What is EUCEN?
EUCEN, the largest European multi-disciplinary association in University Lifelong Learning (ULLL), was founded in 1991 and is registered in Belgium as an international non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation.
It has over 200 members from more than 40 countries. Membership is institutional.

The overall aim of EUCEN
EUCEN aims to contribute to the economic, social and cultural life of Europe through the promotion of LLL within higher education institutions and to foster universities' influence on the development of policy and practice in ULLL. EUCEN strives to encourage high standards and to harmonise levels of quality among its members. It represents the interests of the ULLL community within higher education and to European policymakers and it facilitates communication, liaison and collaboration with other appropriate bodies and organisations. EUCEN promotes and conducts research into ULLL and disseminates the results.

How does EUCEN work?
1. STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL PROJECTS - EUCEN runs strategic projects, which influence future European policy, and operational projects that impact on institutions. It co-ordinates and leads projects and acts as a partner in projects led by members.
2. LOBBYING - through projects and other activities EUCEN has regular contact with the European Commission and other agencies to promote ULLL.
3. NETWORKING - EUCEN collaborates with the European University Association (EUA) which provides contact with Rectors and up to date information. EUCEN also has reciprocal membership with other national and international networks and associations.
4. CONFERENCES - EUCEN offers two conferences per year: one in spring (which includes the annual General Assembly) and one in autumn with in-depth workshops. Study tours and seminars are also offered.
5. WEBSITE AND NEWSLETTER - EUCEN provides an extensive website and a fortnightly on-line newsletter.
